MY REVIEW

I really enjoy reading books by Rachel Harris. She did not disappoint in this book. This story was beautifully written. The characters were well developed. The story was easy to follow. I loved how Rachel did the "before disaster" and "before graduation" chapters. This way you got the past history with the future. You also got both Peyton and Justin POV throughout the book. I felt connected to both characters in this book.

This story is about two young teens who fall in love. Both have baggage and when something spooks them in their relationship. Justin does something incredibly stupid. Once he did it he immediately regrets it. But what's been done can't be changed. Or can we it?

Justin finally catches a break three years later to prove his love to Peyton. This book ends with a HEA

I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I have 2 older sisters and amazing parents. Growing up, I was always a daddy’s girl, hanging out with him in the garage, fishing, and building stuff. I loved to play softball and swimming, but reading, telling stories, and writing were my passion, even at a young age. I took a break from writing for a while, but you could always find me with a book in my hand.

I have three children – two boys and a girl. They are my whole world. Even when I’m having the worst day ever, they brighten up my day and make me smile.

A few years ago, there was this story that would always play out in my head and no matter how many times I went through it, from beginning to end, it would never fade. So I decided to put it on paper. I didn’t plan on publishing it, but when it was almost done, a friend asked to read it. She said it was a story that needed to be shared. And that’s what started my writing career.

I love all genres of books, and even though I started with writing MC Romance, I have a whole book of ideas, so you can expect more from me than just MC, though romance is in my blood.

Even though I currently work two jobs, my ultimate dream is to become a full time author. I want to be able to spend my days filling pages with stories. I want to be the reason people find a reason to smile or laugh from lines on a page. Reading a book allows me to live in someone else’s shoes, even if only for a few minutes. It’s a way to leave my life and troubles behind and I want to be help others do that as well.

Mrs. Duncan sitting on the other side of Shane chokes on her asparagus. After she recovers, she asks, “How did it go today with you and Trevor?”

She’s bringing up my ex-boyfriend on purpose. Bitch. I put on my game face before wiping off the disdain from my lips and turning toward her. I lean across Shane, so only he and Trevor’s mom can hear, letting my breast sheathed only in silk rest on his bare arm. He literally stops breathing, and I smile at my small victory.

“Trevor and I broke up. He stole my virginity, and the sex sucked and maybe a real man, like Shane, could make up for it.”

Chuckling, he shook his head and kept his gray eyes solely on mine. “I’m really not. I was just hoping to hear your laugh again. I guess I didn’t get enough of it yesterday.”

“So, this is you flirting with me? What do you expect to gain from that?”

He took a step closer and smiled. “For starters, I was hoping to persuade you to come to my party after the game Saturday night.”

My heart thumped wildly in my chest. I could feel the sweat pouring down my back. “Like what? A date?”

“Only if you want it to be. I just figured I’d save you the trouble of having to ward off my teammates. I can name three of the guys who are interested in you. My threats to stop their advances can only go so far.”

“What if I didn’t want to go to your party? I can easily just tell them I’m not interested.”

He nodded and crossed his arms over his chest. “You could, but that doesn’t mean shit to these guys. They’ll keep hounding you until you give in. They love the chase.”

“Just like you,” I retorted with a smile.

“What can I say? I’m relentless when I want something.” I sucked in a breath and bit my lip. Did he really want me like that? The thought made everything inside of me tighten. It was too dangerous to think of him like that.

“So are you trying to save me from your friends or are you really wanting me to join you? I know how you guys work, and I don’t want to be a part of some game you’re playing to get girls.”

His grin faded, gaze hard. “I don’t play games, Summer. I may have in the past, but I would never do that to you. Have I ever given you the impression that you can’t trust me?”

Sighing, I shook my head. I felt like such an idiot. “No, and I’m sorry for being presumptuous. It’s just . . .” I paused and bit down on the side of my cheek.

“It’s just what?” he asked in all seriousness.

“It’s just this is all new to me. All I’ve ever known is Austin. Being around you makes me nervous. I’m not like the girls you’ve brought into the restaurant. If it’s sex you want, you can forget it. I’m not one of your groupies.” For a second there, I thought he was at a loss for words, but then he belted out in laughter. Ouch, that hurt. “I’m glad I could amuse you.”

When he straightened up, he took off his hat and ran his hands through his hair. And again, my heart sped up at the sight. Shit. “Damn, you are a fiery one. And just so we’re clear, I’m not trying to fuck you or trying to put another notch in my belt. Believe it or not, I’m actually interested in something else.”

“What is that, exactly?”

“I don’t know, but I’m hoping you can help me figure it out.” Grabbing my hand, he pulled me toward his truck. “Let’s go.”

Unseen Messages follows Estelle Evermore as she attempts to travel home to Australia after a singing tour, only to end up a Castaway on a remote Fiji island with three other survivors. Fellow castaway Galloway Oak hides a troubled past, and he and Estelle have an instant spark of chemistry as soon as they meet, Galloway's past stops him from acting on his attraction.

The story is written in dual points of view by both Estelle and Galloway, and follows the castaways as they try and survive being stranded on the island with no food or water. Unseen Messages has quite a few heartbreaking moments, but it also shows the characters strength and hope. It was great to see the characters go from strangers to family, and how they manage to find food and water to keep them alive. The Author has definitely researched island survival thoroughly I was very impressed to learn of how the survivors learn to live off of the land. This is a rather long book that I didn't want to stop reading because I needed to know what their fate would be, and if they would finally get some good luck!

I don't want to go into anymore detail and spoil the story for anyone. I have to say this is unlike anything I have ever read by Pepper Winters. It was a nice surprise even though I was expecting a dark read. The entire story wasn't what I was expecting and it definitely didn't end how I was expecting and I loved that! Be prepared for some shocks along the way the poor characters go from one struggle to another. This definitely kept my attention the whole way through. Five stars!

This was a very long read but worth it. In the beginning it seemed to drag a bit but not in an uneventful way. In this story you meet Estelle. A woman going home from being on tour in America. She was given messages that were over looked and later her life forever changed. Galloway is man with an haunting past. Trying to make up for it he is headed to Fiji to help with some work. Then you meet the Evermore family. One fated night and their lives changed.

This was an emotional read at times. Reading about the struggles and pain the survivors endured. I felt like I was with them. Learning right along with them all. The characters were well developed. So much so you fell in love with each one. There are moments in this book that just hurt to read. Others were I laughed along with them. I enjoyed reading how they evolved in their situation. How they adapted to their new life. I was so eager to find out how this was going to end. It was not disappointing. 5 stars!

“Gabi Avila,” I read, looking at the tough chick from English class. “Huh. You know, I can’t get a read on this girl at all. I’ve gone to school with her for a while but haven’t said like two words to her.”

Carlos glanced over and I held up the book. “Hot,” he announced. “And my luck, a Commitment.”

“She’s friends with Aly Reed, so I’d say that’s probably right.” Brandon pointed at the right side of the legal pad. “I’ve known that girl for a long time and she’s one of my closest friends. I can tell you she’s absolutely a Commitment.”

As Carlos jotted down both names, I flipped to the end of the class photos and found Aly. She was cute. If I remembered right, she played for the volleyball team. In her picture, she was laughing instead of smiling, and something about the way her eyes crinkled reminded me of Peyton.

“I think it’s safe to say most of the Diamond Dolls are Casuals,” Carlos said, already writing Ashley’s name. “They seem cool with just hanging out and having fun, not trying to call any of us their boyfriends or anything, right?”

The other guys nodded in agreement. I wasn’t sure what Lauren wanted from me, but she’d never brought up labels. She left notes in my locker before games, cheered for me in the stands, and saved me a seat at lunch—basically the same things all the Diamond Dolls did. She also ignored me the other six days of the week, openly flirted with the other players, and kissed random dudes in the hallway. I’d say that was probably the definition of Casual.

“What about that new girl?” I asked. “I think her name is Peyton?”

Carlos side-eyed me, having seen her that day in the bleachers, but he didn’t out me.

Drew scratched his chin. “Who?”

“You know, the cute girl who started this semester. Strawberry blonde, kind of quiet, spends most of her lunch break reading a book?”

From the way all three of them turned to stare at me, it was clear my attempt for nonchalance missed by a mile. Carlos smirked, but replied, “Yeah, I’ve seen her around a few times. She came to the game the other day, didn’t she?”

Yes, she had. And I’d felt her watching my ass from behind home plate.

“The girl who screamed bloody murder at the umpire for missing that call?” Brandon asked, and I nodded, fighting a smile at the memory. It had been a horrific mistake, almost cost us the game, but hearing Sunshine yell so loud, and seeing her face turn red while she did it in the stands, had made it damn hard to stay angry.

The guys looked at each other for confirmation before saying in unison, “Commitment.”

I went to argue. I wanted to believe Peyton could be a Casual. If she didn’t want anything serious, then there would be no problem with us hooking up, having some fun, and hopefully getting her out of my head, since nothing else seemed to work. But, I knew the guys were right.

Carlos glanced at me, the pen pressed to the paper. I released a breath and said, “Yeah, she’s totally a Commitment.”

And completely off limits.

Once again I find myself reading outside my comfort zone in genres. I am so glad I did. This book was brilliant!! I could not stop reading this book. I was constantly thinking about it and wanting to get back to reading it.

Here you have a strong female character which I love. You have mystery and not only that there is more suspense to add to it. You also have twists throughout this book and it was great. I loved how the author tied in the Comanche Indian Quanah Parker into the story. You feel for the characters in this story.

I enjoyed Anna, Maureen, Captain William and so many more. I will most certainly be recommending this book to my family and friends. The Character build was great. I love how this author makes you feel like you are in the story. I am so looking forward to reading Blood Oath.
