âWhy donât we do something tomorrow night? Saturday night is a good night to party and since we are in our 30s, we will all be home by 11.â I said that last part laughing and Rob joined in with me.
âSo true so true baby girl. Now spill why you had a smile on your face walking into your classroom and I get here, the smile is faded and you had this look of panic on your face.â
âYou saw that did you?â He just nodded and waited for me to continue. âI met this guy online in the gaming community. We have known each other for a year but more on a personal level the last few months. We have been emailing, Skyping, and text messaging each other a lot.â
âI see a but coming on or more to the story.â
âThere is a but and a huge one at that! We started calling on the phone when we are on breaks from work and at night. We just told one another that we like each other.â
âHas Abby decided to start dating? Oh, this is cause for celebration.â Rob clapped his hands in excitement. He knows the hell I went through with all of the boys that I have been with and knows the toll it took on me.
âHe lives in Florida and he doesnât know what I look like. What if he doesnât like what he sees? What if he wants to make me his dirty little secret? What if I like him a lot and he breaks my heart?â I had tears coming down my face.
âI felt that same way when I met Aaron. We met online in the same gaming community that you met Cash. I was terrified that he wouldnât love me, break my heart, or even not feel the same way. I got over that in a hurry because we all need to take a leap of faith in the love department.â Aaron stood about 5'11 and wasn't as muscular as Rob but he was well built. He had brown hair, hazel eyes, and a beard. I wasn't a fan of beards but my God he made it look sexy. He was a doctor, an OB GYN. He had funny stories about how his female patients would flirt with and ask him out on dates but when they saw Rob coming around and he told them that he was in a relationship with him, they were heartbroken. They were not upset about his lifestyle but the fact that he wouldn't date them. Rob was doing well for himself.
âI am just an overweight girl who doesnât deserve love and is always going to be someoneâs dirty little secret.â
Rob slammed his hand onto the table making me jump. âWhy is it that you listen to all the people who are not worthy of you and ignore those who love you the most?â
âIt is easier to listen to the negative than the positive. The people who love me most will always say what I want to hear not what is true. Do you think I like being this way? Do you think I like doubting every man who comes into my life? Do you think I donât want the husband, children, and know the feeling of what true love is? Until you have been subjected to this way of thinking all your life, donât get mad at me for feeling like this, Rob.â
âHoney, I am not mad at you but just disappointed. You are so beautiful and sexy that any man,â I went to open my mouth to say something and he held up his hand, âwho is deserving of you. I wish you could see it. When you meet the man who is worthy of you, he will show you and you will believe it. I think you should keep getting to know Cash and see where things go. Keep an open mind. If all else fails, think âWhat would Rob say?â I am very wise, just so you know.
I laughed, âWise huh, maybe a wise-ass.â He feigned shock by my words.

Avery The windowless room is freezing. Florescent lights hum, echoing off the cinderblock walls and tingeing the too bright, barren room in a sickly green hue. As soon as I was ushered inside, the bag was removed from my head and my lab coat was taken. The thin blouse I’m left with does nothing to shield me from the frigid air. I rub my arms to generate heat, giving myself something to concentrate on besides counting the seconds. I’ve only been locked inside for minutes, but panic threatens to pull me under when I imagine it turning into days. So very different than before, but somehow just as frightening. I’m not shackled. I’m not drugged. I don’t, logically, think these people have the same intentions as my abductor did when he took me…but I can’t say that for certain. As soon as I think I’m going to lose it and start banging on the steel door, I hear a click, and the door grinds open against the floor. The man entering is tall and thickly built. He wears a mask. A Jason mask like on the horror movie. And he’s carrying a semiautomatic gun. My stomach plunges, free-fall. I want the bag back over my head. He jerks his head. “Move. It’s ready.” What’s ready? But I can’t work up the courage to ask. This man is not manhandling me, and somehow my feet move me in that direction. I’ve just simply lost my mind. So many days spent fearing the world after I was released from the hospital, and what I dreaded could happen—that which I told myself over and over would never happen again—has, in fact, happened. What else is there left to fear? Death? I’m almost relieved. Like I’m ready to welcome it. Like I can stop dreading it now. The masked man stands in the doorway as I cross through. My eyes go wide when I see what’s on the other side of the room. A lab. But unlike any lab I’ve ever worked in. It’s dirty, and smells of death. Not like the death in the morgue, where I’m accustomed to being surrounded by bodies. But a grotesque, sour stench that soaks my pores. Tables are full of beakers and test tubes. A giant syringe station is setup with thin blue hoses curling down into a large tub. My gaze follows the tubes’ path along the back wall to a large containment unit. “Welcome, Dr. Johnson.” I whirl around, trying to locate the source of the deep, gravely voice. Feedback pierces the air, and I look up to find a speaker in the corner. The voice booms through the room again. “Go ahead. Get comfortable. There’s a coat on the hanger to your left, and goggles on the table.” I shake my head. “What do you want from me?” I say to the room, hoping this unsettling PA system is two-way. “It’s what we both want,” the voice responds. “I believe neither of us want any more dead girls littering up our beautiful streets. So you should get to work.” I turn around and see the man with the gun standing watch at the only exit. I face forward, lick my lips. “And if I can’t?” The silence stretches out, endlessly taunting. I’m sure the decision to end my life has already been made. Then: “I really don’t think that’s an option for you, Miss Johnson.” A beat. “Best focus on the task at hand. You have one hour.”

Passion and lust ignite. Dark and light battle. This explosive first installment of the Broken Bonds series sets the exhilarating pace for a cat and mouse game where no one knows who’s really pulling the strings. Criminal profiler Sadie Bonds knows blood. Her affair with the gruesome, dark world of killers began long before she started applying her analytical skills to investigate gory crime scenes. She gets inside the killers’ heads, breaks them down, relates to them on an arcane level. She prefers it this way—because it’s safer to ally herself with the villain than the victim. At least, that’s how she’s coped ever since she was abducted and tortured as a teen. She will never be a victim again. Now, she’s honed her skills in order to bring justice to these ritualistic offenders. Working alongside her colleagues, armed with sharp wit and a SIG, Sadie always catches her sadist. Until one ruthless serial killer gets inside Sadie’s head, turning the tables. He knows her secrets. Her obsessions. The darkest, most deviant part of her soul. When she meets Colton Reed, dangerous stakes are raised as he threatens to unravel her control and reveal her darkest fantasies. The sexy-as-sin bondage rigger at an exclusive BDSM club pushes her boundaries, forcing her to acknowledge that side of herself she fears. Plunged into a realm of torture and suffering, pain and pleasure, Sadie balances on the razor-sharp edge of two intersecting worlds threatening to swallow her. The UNSUB has made contact. After a rapid string of grisly murders shakes the usually peaceful city of Arlington, Virginia, the sadistic killings of young women lull into a deceptive calm. Agent Sadie Bonds knows the terror isn’t over; serial killers don’t stop until caught. And this sadist has targeted the profiler, revealing pieces of her dark past and weaving her secrets into each gruesome crime scene. Is the killer someone from Sadie’s past, her present? Or is he part of a fated future she brought on herself? The answer lies within the riddle of the copycat killings, ones mimicked after the infamous Blood Countess. As tension brews in the department awaiting the UNSUB’s next move, Sadie’s more than on edge—her deviant cravings for the possible perpetrator have ratcheted out of control. She needs the feel of Colton’s ropes binding her, sheltering her from stark reality. Only Colton Reed has his own twisted secrets that threaten to unravel not only Sadie as they come to light, but the UNSUB’s carefully constructed web now entangling both the profiler and her sexy bondage rigger. Who is the UNSUB? For Agent Sadie Bonds, finding the answer to that question means the difference between life and death for someone close to her. The UNSUB’s latest abduction reaches right into the heart of the ACPD, forcing every member of the department to search within their ranks for the sadistic perpetrator. Suspicion not only clouds the task force; it slithers into Sadie and Colton’s bond, challenging their love. Discovering the truth means facing their past together. Sadie’s connection to Colton has quieted her inner demons—but is she strong enough to confront the real monster? All players take their places as the stage is set for the final scene. With the UNSUB manipulating the game, even Sadie and Colton fall victim, spiraling deep into the darkness that threatens not only their lives, but their trust. As Sadie navigates a tortuous maze, Colton will do whatever is takes to protect her. The truth will set you free. Only for Sadie, her truth will test the very fabric of her reality. She must silence the threat, or risk losing everything and everyone she loves.

Genre: Erotic Contemporary Cowboy
Release Date: February 10, 2016
Blurb
Cowboy Trace Williams thought he had trouble when his wife served him with divorce papers, forcing him to move to his cousin’s horse rescue ranch. But that was nothing compared to handling the female squatter he’s supposed to evict from Last Chance Ranch. Though she’s a crack shot and has no use for politeness or subtlety, her ability to communicate with animals has him seeking her out on behalf of the ranch…and himself. Whisper Adams lives off the grid. She cares for her invalid uncle and watches over the wildlife that finds her. The animals are more trustworthy than the people she’s encountered. So when a hard-bodied, easy going cowboy arrives at her trailer and causes her heart to race, she’s anxious for him to leave, until he asks for her help at the ranch. Since they end up together more often than she prefers, Whisper doesn’t deny her attraction to Trace, who introduces her to new experiences, from riding horses to an erotic night in bed. When the cowboy closed the door, she turned on him, a smirk curling her lip. “So, did you find out everything you came up here for?”
The man studied her, his eyes hidden by the shadow of his hat. “Yes I did, thank you.”
Huh? “Good. Now you can go.”
He cocked his head. “I would think with no one around for miles you wouldn’t mind a little company for a change.”
“Nope.” At least not his. He had her stomach in knots and she didn’t like it. “Not real partial to people. Animals are much better company.”
Trace laughed at her statement, sending a pleasant sensation over her body, like the sprinkle of a light rain.
“I have to admit to having that thought a time or two, especially in the ranch house. But the barn can be peaceful, even soothing. I like listening to the sound of a horse munching on dinner while another chuffs and moves around in the shavings.” He looked off in the distance as if seeing every detail. “As dusk comes on, you can hear the crickets, and the desert mice scampering back into their nests.” His gaze locked with hers. “Nature is more straightforward than man.”
Feeling a sense of kinship with him at his description, it took her a moment to catch the undertone of bitterness in his final statement. Her mind eased as she sensed he might understand. “Yeah, I get that. A horse lets you know exactly how she feels. You also know how a coyote or mountain lion feels the second you find yourself in their company.”
He grinned. “You in the company of those animals often up here?”
She shrugged. “Faust comes by when he’s hungry and—” At his intent stare, she halted. “Anyway, you were leaving, right?”

Jax flung his fist through the air, landing a punch to the side of Reed’s face which was already bloodied and bruised. For the last two hours Reed’s face had been Jax’s personal punching bag. All he could see was Kim’s face—her eyes, her mouth, and all her delicate features haunting him every second since they realized that she was gone. How the fuck had he let this happen? He was supposed to keep an eye on her, protect her. But he knew something was up when Reed and Lexi disappeared, and there was no sign of Levi. Fuck! It wasn’t his intention to let her out of his sight for so long, but when he got upstairs and saw Reed pointing a gun at his brother, he had to act. Somewhere in the back of his mind he thought that Kim would have been okay surrounded by hundreds of other people in the club. But he was so fucking wrong. He had underestimated Baptiste, and now Kim was paying the price. He never should have come to Manhattan. He never should have sought out his brother’s help. But he had no one else to turn to, no one else who could help him. For years, he had done deals for Baptiste. Deals which involved diamonds, drugs, and illegal firearms. And then Baptiste had tried to force him into doing deals which involved the one thing Jax’s moral compass did not allow—human trafficking. Now, because Jax had refused to do one deal for Baptiste that involved an eighteen-year-old girl being sold into slavery, Kim’s life was hanging in the balance. Baptiste was forcing his hand by kidnapping her and holding her as leverage to insure that Jax would cooperate. And the douche Jax was currently using as a human punching bag was not helping him get any closer to rescuing her. With another swing, and another punch, Jax yelled at Reed, “Where is she?” It felt like the rage inside him wanted to claw its way out of his chest. Not knowing where the hell she was, what they’d done to her, and even if she was still alive, made him feel like he was about to rip his own skin off. With blood-stained teeth, Reed smiled, his eyelids drooping from the beating Jax had dished out. “You will never find her.”

I love to write book lovers; those who have found refuge, companionship, and escape in books, much as we do in real life. I like realism, honesty, authenticity in storytelling. I love to write about enduring love, soul-deep love, in as real a setting as I can make, but with big smooshy HEAs. I believe in diversity, open-mindedness, and inclusion. I like sweetness mixed with steam, love conquering all, and above all, hope. Love always wins. Excerpt: His eyes roamed over my scarred face. I didn’t sense a shred of revulsion or disgust or even curiosity. Evan Salinger smiled at my messed up face as if it were a gift he wasn’t expecting. “This,” I whispered. “How you’re looking at me right now. This is why I’m here. I thought…if you saw me, you wouldn’t care that I’m ugly.” I swallowed hard. “You might not think I was ruined.” Evan’s smile melted into a pained expression, his brows furrowed. He moved closer to me, facing me. “You’re not ruined,” he said softly. “I already saw your scar. When you dove into the pool to save me. When you came out of the water with me, your hair was back and I saw it.” “I didn’t save you,” I said, hardly able to breathe and he moved even closer, into my space. I felt the heat of his body across the water that separated us, and felt myself pulled toward it. “You did, Jo. It might not seem like it, but you did. And God, you are not ugly.” His hand rose up out of the water and I watched it move to my face. I didn’t stop him. His fingertips touched my cheek and his thumb traced the line of my scar from under my eye down to my jaw. “You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.” It was too much. No one looked at me like this. No one told me I was beautiful. And no boy had ever moved to kiss me like Evan did. His face slowly coming toward mine, his eyes gentle, the warmth of his attention like a roaring fire over me. He covered my mouth with his and inhaled a little while I exhaled. A little sigh that turned to a soft moan as his mouth opened and mine opened with him, letting him in. I let go. The shields guarding my heart lowered. Evan wasn’t taking, he was giving. His kiss gave me those impossible things I’d desperately wanted all my life: tenderness, consideration, reverence. I took everything in his kiss, turned it around and gave it all back to him. Willingly. Never once wondering what it would cost me later. No price to be paid, only this moment with this boy. The beauty of time and him and his sweet kiss. I let go. He caught me and held me up. My arms went around his bruised and beaten body, and I held him up too. Together, we stood upright and unwavering. I was strong in Evan’s arms. And I never wanted it to end. Ever. My mouth couldn’t get enough of his sweet, clean taste and the scratch of his stubble on my cheek. The scent of his skin in my nose that carried little particles of his life to me: the pool, the auto shop and his own goodness. We kissed forever, the earth ceased rotating to give us more time. Evan didn’t try to push me past kissing. His hands never stopped moving but they kept to my back or tangled in my hair. They caressed my face and neck while his mouth explored mine. His gentle sweetness broke me down. It was too much. I broke our kiss and held him tightly around the neck, buried my face against his warm skin, my body trembling against his. It wasn’t safe to let anyone in this close. I fought to find something to say, to dismiss or joke away the kiss before he could. He kept holding me. “This doesn’t happen to girls like me,” I whispered against his neck. “Do you know what I mean?” God, I hoped so. I couldn’t explain it and didn’t want to try. I was beyond words. And because it was Evan, I didn’t need them. “I know,” he murmured against my neck. “It doesn’t happen to guys like me, either. Believe me.” He held me tighter. “No one touches me.” No one touches me. It wasn’t self-pity. Just a simple fact. The pain and cruelty of his life was buried so deep in him, only faint echoes rose up anymore. I held him tighter. “You’re shivering,” he said after a moment. “I know, but I’m not cold.” He pulled away, smiling gently. “Come on. I’ll walk you home.”

Rachael Tonks is a new to the scene author with a love of books, and a particular love of the romance genre. As a child Rachael could always be found with her head in a book, but it wasn’t until the beginning of 2015 when Rachael’s love of books really took over. Reading spurred on her desires to put pen to paper, and write down the story of the characters screaming for their story to be told.
Starting out her career with a new adult romance novel, she is currently working on her second novel which she plans to release mid-2016. Rachael lives in the steely suburb of Sheffield, in the north of England with her husband, 3 beautiful children and her 2 crazy dogs. She loves nothing more reading with a good cup of tea and is self-proclaimed chocoholic!

I remember a moment like this. One where it felt like the entire universe paused and shifted right under my feet. A moment where a truth changed everything. At this moment, I am altered.
Jake Daniels is standing in front of me. “No, I can’t believe it,” I say with a fierceness I didn’t know I was capable of. “Listen, I know there’s some damage, but don't worry we’ll get it fixed,” Stout says in an easy going voice. My body is locked tight ignoring Stout, my eyes are locked hard on Jake. “Juniper,” Jake’s voice is soft as he sets down the wrench in his hand and takes a careful step towards me. Careful like he's afraid I’ll bolt, like he sees something in my eyes that he isn’t quite sure of. It’s an emotion he has never seen before on me; straight incomprehensible fury. “Don’t you dare ‘Juniper’ me. You lost that right you son of a bitch!” I hiss and watch Jake freeze in his step. “You Goddamn motherfucking...” I don’t finish. The anger I feel towards him overwhelms me. I lunge for him and smack him as hard as I can. He’s taller than me by a lot and I have to reach to hit him. I claw and scratch. Kick and punch. I’m so angry. “Twenty-five minutes from us. You’re twenty-five minutes.” I’m hysterical. Jake lets me get hits in on him, then says, “Enough.” His voice is darker and deeper than I remember. He scoops me up and throws me over his shoulder as if I weigh nothing. “Boss, need a few,” he says like I’m not pounding on his back and screaming. “Put me down, Jake Daniels!” “Feisty one huh, Jake,” Stout chuckles, then says, “take all the time you need.” Jake walks us up a set of metal stairs and through a door. My world is flipped upside down when he rights me and deposits me on the edge of a desk, then wraps his arms tightly around me, including my arms so that I can’t move. “Calm down, June,” he says.
I breathe in and out, deep breaths, trying to calm myself. I won’t look at Jake. I can’t. I’m afraid that if I do, I’ll get drawn right back into him. My eyes are trained on a certification award on the wall behind the desk. My body is rigid. I try not to think about the fact that I am in Jake’s arms and his beautiful masculine scent is surrounding me. Instead, I focus on my behavior and try to get it under control. I’ve thought about how I would be if I saw him again, but no way did those thoughts include me going batshit crazy.

I laid my head against the cool glass of the bus window and watched the rain slick against it. The water beaded against the glass and then slid down in little rivulets that I traced with my finger.
I wouldn’t miss the rain. I wouldn’t miss anything about Oregon. That place wasn’t my home. Never had been, and never would be. With a jolt, the bus roared to life, startling me, but I relaxed a moment later when we pulled out of the station. Freedom was so close to being mine. I watched the people on the street as the bus pulled away. I was searching for buzzed brown hair and eerie black eyes, but he wasn’t amongst them. He didn’t know I’d left yet. And hopefully, by the time he did, I’d be long gone. I adjusted my hoodie so my face was hidden from the other people on the bus and wiggled around, settling myself in for the long ride to California. Unlike the other people on the bus, I didn’t have a cellphone to keep me company. Cellphones were traceable so I’d ditched mine. I couldn’t risk him finding me, because if he had I was certain he’d kill me. He would’ve eventually killed me if I stayed, too. My only option had been to take the risk of running away. I would have rather died on my terms than his, but if everything went according to plan, I’d be free and he’d never find me. He called me Scarlett, but Scarlett didn’t exist. Scarlett was a lie. My name was Ariella, and I was reclaiming my stolen life.

“Ellie Cahill is definitely one to watch!” raves bestselling author Cora Carmack, and this steamy, upbeat modern romance about connecting in all the best ways proves it once again. Clementine Daly knows she’s the black sheep. Her wealthy, powerful family has watched her very closely since she almost got caught in an embarrassing scandal a few years ago. So when Clementine’s sent on a mission to live up to the Daly name, politely declining isn’t an option. Of course, the last thing she does before boarding the plane is to grab a stranger’s phone by mistake—leaving the hunky journalist with her phone. Soon his sexy voice is on the line, but he doesn’t know her real name, or her famous pedigree—which is just the way Clementine likes it. Despite all the hassles, Justin Mueller is intrigued to realize that the beautiful brown-eyed girl he met at the airport is suddenly at his fingertips. They agree to exchange phones when they’re both back in town, but after a week of flirty texts and wonderfully intimate conversations, Justin doesn’t want to let her go. The only problem? “So.” I glanced out the windows to the patio. “You want to go back out there?”
“Not really,” she said. “You want to get out of here?” She grinned. “Yeah. I do.” I watched her rush up the stairs to get her things, and as soon as she was out of sight, I adjusted myself in my pants. My dick had jumped to life the second she said yeah, I do, as if the question had been you want to get naked and fuck? rather than something much less suggestive. Not that I didn’t want to get naked and fuck—hopefully I’d last a little longer than I had in the broom closet eleven years ago—but I didn’t want to make her feel like that’s what I expected. She wasn’t a horny nineteen-year-old college student anymore; she was a doctor, for fuck’s sake. She was beautiful and smart and mature and sophisticated, and a woman like her did not want some Neanderthal who probably needed a haircut and a new pair of shoes to throw her up against a wall for a five-minute fuck. A woman like that deserved attention all night long. She deserved someone who would undress her slowly and delight in each new inch of her skin as it was revealed. Someone who would run his hands all over her body and find out where she liked to be touched, how she liked to be touched, what she wanted to hear whispered to her in the dark. Someone who would wrap those gloriously long legs around his neck and use his tongue until she begged for his cock, then use his cock until she begged for mercy. Fuck. I could be that guy. Except I couldn’t be. Not tonight. Because I wasn’t a horny college student anymore either—I was just a horny single dad who didn’t have the luxury of taking a woman home and lavishing all my time and attention on her the way I wanted to. As soon as I had the thought, I felt guilty. Scotty was the love of my life and always would be, and whenever I felt the slightest bit resentful about something I couldn’t do because of him, that resentment was immediately crushed by shame. He didn’t ask to be born wired differently, into a terrible relationship, to a mother who would decide she couldn’t handle being a parent, to a father who wasn’t prepared for any of it. He was completely innocent, and he needed me to be a better man. Running a hand through my hair, I exhaled and wondered if I should ask Jillian for a raincheck on a night when Scotty’s usual sitter could be there. If he woke up again and I wasn’t home yet, he might never get back to sleep. We’d be up all night, tomorrow would be miserable, and the whole start to the week would be off. But she was so beautiful. And I hadn’t been this attracted to someone in so long. “Fuck,” I muttered, checking my watch. What was the right thing to do? If she were a different sort of woman, if her brother-in-law weren’t my friend and client, if we lived three states apart…if any number of circumstances were changed, I’d grab her hand, drag her out to my car, and spend the next thirty minutes fucking her brains out in the back seat. It would feel so good to take control that way, to lose control that way, to release some of this fucking tension. But was that fair to her? My phone buzzed in my pocket. “Hello?” “He’s up again.” Monica’s voice was strained, and in the background I heard the familiar keening of a nighttime meltdown. My chest hurt, the way it always did when Scotty was upset. “Shit. OK, I’m on my way. Twenty minutes, OK? Thirty at the most.” “OK.” “Tell him he can play on his iPad.” “That’ll just rile him up more. He’s tired. He needs to go to sleep.” I clenched my fist. “Just do it, OK? It will help calm him until I get there.” As I ended the call, I heard footsteps above, and then Jillian appeared at the top of the stairs carrying a small suitcase. I watched her descend, the tightness in my chest growing. Also the tightness in my pants. “Hey.” “Hey,” she said, her face concerned as she reached the ground and saw my expression. She set down the suitcase. “What’s up?” Sighing, I put my phone back in my pocket. “I have to get home. Scotty woke up and he’s upset.” “Oh.” She tried to hide it, but I saw the disappointment in her eyes. “I’m really sorry. I’ll make it up to you, I promise.” “That’s OK. I understand.” “Can I call you?” “Of course.” She smiled, and her lips looked so soft and inviting, I took a step closer. If you kiss her, it will be that much harder to leave. I knew it was the truth, but I couldn’t help myself. One kiss. Just one. And then I’ll go. I moved even closer and took her head in my hands. The curve of her smile deepened. “What are you doing?” “I’m thinking about kissing you.” “Stop thinking.” I lowered my lips to hers and let them rest there, fully intending the kiss to be short and sweet, just a goodnight. But I couldn’t break it off. I wanted more—I wanted to taste her. Slanting my head, I changed the angle of the kiss, teasing her mouth open with mine, slipping my tongue between her lips. A little sigh escaped her, and my dick jumped to life again. You have to go, you have to go, you have to go. But her hands were moving up my chest and my fingers were sliding into her soft brown hair and I could smell something sweet and citrusy on her skin and it mingled with the taste of whiskey on my tongue and oh God, I wanted my tongue everywhere on her body. I wanted make her come with it just so I could hear that little sigh again and again and again. And I wanted to feel my hands in her hair just like this while she got on her knees and took my cock between her lips, looking up at me with those big blue eyes… Groaning, I forced myself to take my lips off her before I completely lost my senses. “God, I wish I could stay,” I said, resting my forehead against hers. “I wish a lot of things.” “I know.” She played with my tie again. “I wish I was taking this tie off you, not straightening it.” “What a coincidence, that’s one of my wishes too.”
She laughed and kissed me quickly. “Another time, maybe. You better go.”

His Light in the Dark by L.A. Fiore
Contemporary Romance
Released: February 9, 2016
My first memory was of a slap, hard across the face: the sting on my cheek and the jarring of my bones as I slammed back into my bed. It was my dad who had hit me.
I had been four.
Most of my memories were much of the same and no one ever saw, no one ever fought to help, no one ever cared.
Then we moved.
My new neighbor cared, rescued the twelve-year-old I had been from a beating. Always thought I'd suffer the nightmare alone, I was wrong.
Mace Donati saved me that day in all the ways a person could be saved.
And his daughter, Mia, she became the friend I had always wanted, my conscience when my own faltered, the light that led me home when I had lost my way.
The girl who grew into the only woman I would ever love.
But when you realize you're more like your father than the good people who took you in and gave you a home, the only way to return their kindness is to let them go.
I let them go, got so far lost in the shadows I couldn't remember who I was anymore. Mia never gave up on me. She fought for me, kept the light on so I'd find my way back.
And when I did, life threw us a curveball. I had to hurt Mia in order to save her.
But when my past comes back to haunt me and I almost lose her, I'm ready to fight for her...fight to find a way back into her heart while keeping the demons from my past from finishing what they started.

She must not have mentioned that to him yet. “Yeah. She has one done and the other I just started on,” I say, flipping to the page I’m looking for. Folding the other pages back, I hold it up for him to see. “Holy fuck man! That shit is fucking awesome. You are seriously talented,” he says, examining the details. Last night he had mentioned that he had always wanted to get a heaven and hell type of tattoo, so I put my spin on it and made it what I thought he would like. If I’m honest, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. “When can you start?” he asks with a huge grin. “I didn’t schedule anything tonight, so any time is good with me,” I state. He flips the page and sees the one I was working on for Brielle. “These are her favorite things,” he smiles looking up at me. “Yeah, she told me about them,” I reply, watching as he looks over all the pictures. When he comes to the teddy bear, he gives me a questioning look. “I know she didn’t tell you this one,” he points at the bear. “The night I came back from Vegas after the photo album was sent to her apartment, she was having a dream. All she kept saying was that she couldn’t find her bear and that she knew your mom had taken it and hidden it from her. She was mumbling about her mom knowing how much it meant to her and she only took it to punish her.” Greyson’s eyes widen and he nods. “Yeah. I remember that. She was about ten and our mom hated that thing. She tried to get rid of it a lot because our uncle bought it for her. She hated when he bought us stuff, especially when we liked it more than the things she bought us.” Shaking my head, I can’t believe how their mother would get jealous of a damn teddy bear. “She was showing me a few photos from when you were kids and I saw the teddy bear, so I knew it was the same one.” “She’ll love it man. She will be stoked that you incorporated her favorite stuffed animal in it. It’s perfect,” he says, slapping me on the back.About the Author K. Renee is from sunny, California.
